Introduction to SOBA and Birth of Sargodhian Spirit Trust

As more and more Sargodhians passed out from the portals of this great institution, they had the urge to get together to share old memories and keep contact with each other. In 1964, S M Anas (115-A), Ishaq (71-A), Sajjad (122-S) and Hamid (75-A) got together in Ishaq’s office at Victoria Road Karachi and held their first meeting. The Sargodhian Old Boys’ Association was thus born. As word spread, more and more old boys joined in and the number of meetings became more frequent. In 1974 the Association was registered at Karachi. Later more chapters were added, namely: Karachi, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, USA/Canada, UK/Europe and Bangladesh.

As the Association got more organized, rules of business were drawn up, regular elections of the office bearers are being held and get-togethers taking place occasionally. In 1993, a realization crept in that there was more to life than just meeting occasionally and exchanging pleasantries. The Sargodhians resolved that they must repay the nation in kind for what it had given them in the development of their personality and careers. This in essence is the Sargodhian Spirit which got translated into the Sargodhian Spirit Trust. Sargodhians resolved that they would replicate PAF Public School, Sargodha and would have one such school in each province of Pakistan. The first of the SST Public Schools has been set up in interior Sind at Rashidabad near Tando Allah Yar.
